La Escuela del Sol is founded on the principle of self enhancement of the body, mind and soul. It is an adventure camp for the adults. It offers different courses based on Spanish language, surfing, fire dancing, scuba diving, yoga and also College Credit for their Spanish curriculum. So it might be said one of a kind educational vacation. You can also combine any of the courses offered by this camp from 1 to 12 weeks.
This camp is set just within short walking distance from the beach, some great snorkeling spots, the mysterious Isla Cabuya. And it is just one mile from an isolated beach as well as Costa Rica’s 1st national park the beautiful Cabo Blanco National Park. The front of the camp graces Montezuma’s central park and it takes 5 minute walk to reach Montezuma river
Depending on guests’ request, La Escuela del Sol Surf can provide private or shared accommodations. It has standard and superior rooms which are well furnished, spacious, cozy and comfortable. All rooms are featured with air conditioner, private rooms with hot water supply, a safe for valuables, and free WiFi service. There is a lounge with a yoga studio on the top floor including hammocks, chairs, tables, couches and a large wooden deck. All the superior rooms are on the upper floors of the property and those are more spacious with wooden floors and refrigerators.
Most of the surfing classes, offered by La Escuela del Sol, will be at Montezuma’s Playa Grande. If the surfers improves enough, they will be taken to some other breaks in the area by the instructors.
Different classes are offered depending on skill level, so beginners or more advanced surfers will be in appropriate waves and with different instruction. These classes last for 1 hour and 50 minutes (Monday-Friday).
La Escuela del Sol offers Hatha Vinyasa Yoga classes which have a touch of the Anusara yoga style as well. These classes are open for all levels of learners, directed in English language. These classes are held in an open air, covered Yoga studio overlooking amazing view of Montezuma central park. This studio has space to hold 20 people and it also provides yoga mats and props.
While staying at La Escuela del Sol, you can join Spanish program offered by the camp. This program is designed with 1 hour and 50 minutes of class room study and 1 hour and 50 minutes of applied learning each day (Monday-Friday). For increasing vocabulary, conversational skill, applied classes are designed with games, movies, hikes, scavenger hunts, debates, cooking local cuisine and many more. Classes are designed up to 6 levels depending on necessity with a maximum of 6 students per level. If you are the only person in your level, the private instruction will be reduced to 90 minutes per 1-on-1 session or 3 hours per day.
There are innumerable dive sites all along the coast including Tortuga Island. Everyday La Escuela Del Sol’s diving school makes a meticulous selection of their dive sites based on changes in currents. Its 32 foot boat is fully equipped with dive and safety equipment, bathroom, indoor cabin, kitchen and sundeck.
La Escuela del Sol also offers CMAS Scuba Certification course which is equivalent with and compatible to the PADI Open Water Diving Certification.
Fire Dancing Classes:
La Escuela Del Sol offers most of its classes to teach fire poi but it also offers workshops throughout the year. It restricts fire spinning classes to a maximum of 5 students per instructors. Lessons are given individually and start with the participant’s ability when they arrive so that they can get advanced at their own rate. It offers Poi classes for beginners as well as for the advanced dancers.
La Escuela Del Sol offers different excursions such as hiking to the Montezuma waterfalls, horseback riding on beach and to El Chorro Waterfalls, and also Snorkeling Tour to the Tortuga Island.
In November 2014, La Escuela del Sol agreed to take over management of the ‘Wild Sun Rescue Center‘. Injured and abandoned animals are rescued by LEDS and returned to the wild as soon as those animals are fit and able. By rescuing those animals, LEDS also working for developing the sustainable awareness by showing the people how they are making the animals facing trouble and how they should live harmoniously. They welcome volunteers who are eager to help with care for the animals, construction of animal habitats and facilities, art projects, marketing and fund raising. As LEDS is in the process of renewing the permits to resume all operations in accordance with state law, volunteers who want to work with any other programs offered by the camp, will not have to pay any additional fee, until their permits are issued.
